Mombasa-based musician Ziky Mtana has sparked debates on social media after disclosing the amount of money he spent on his latest music video ‘Can We Dance’, featuring the ever-fresh Susumila.
YEIYO.com understands Ziky Mtana dropped the official visuals to his song about three days ago and was lauded immensely for a wonderful piece of work.
Most music lovers, specifically his fans could not help but note that he indeed outdid himself with the new project.
All was well as the tune was receiving massive love from fans until recently when Ziky Mtana’s revelation caused a rift between his fans and the general Kenyan music lovers.
The musician, during a recent media interview where he was promoting his Amapiano-laced jam revealed that he splashed a whopping KSh 500,000 on the music video.
While Ziky Mtana’s claims maybe true, quite a number of netizens felt he was lying since the final product; the music video is not anywhere near the quoted rate.
Some of his fans supported him, holding he had at least put in work and heavy investment in his music project and cannot wait to see him enjoy the fruits when the song eventually blows.
Mtana’s critics, however, insisted the video is just a basic standard and can not in any way cost half a million.
Personally, this writer checked the video out and discovered the critics may be telling the truth.
Truly, the video producer did a stellar job; from the shots, to the colour grading and editing is on point.
However, the locations, logistics, crew and casts in the music video cannot convince anyone that the artiste indeed spent KSh 500,000.
