Anyone who has been an ardent followers of Diamond Platnumz will tell you that he is one of the most hard working, not to mention daring African musicians that the world has ever seen.
This was recently confirmed by P-Unit’s member Boneye who took the world down the memory lane as he uncovered how Diamond Platnumz requested for a collabo with the their then high ranking music group, P-Unit.
The rapper disclosed that Diamond Platnumz approached the group and requested for a collabo when they were at the peak of their music career.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with SPM Buzz, Boneye said Diamond really wanted them to feature him in a song so that they can catapult him to greater heights in the much-competitive global music industry.
According to Boneye, Diamond was focused and did everything in his power to get their attention.
This included the now world music icon waiting for them at a Tanzanian hotel lobby for about four hours so he could present his proposal for the collabo.
Unfortunately, P-Unit turned down Diamond Platnumz’s humble request because of a very trivial excuse.
Boneye revealed that the group turned down Diamond Platnumz’s request because one member, namely Gabu did not like the award-winning musician’s dry lips.
The one third of the once glamorous and successful music trio added that Diamond Platnumz was so desperate that he came with a complete song dubbed “Nitampata Wapi” and requested P-Unit to own it but have him on it as a featured artiste.
Boneye said Diamond Platnumz even sang for them the “Nitampata Wapi” jam at the hotel lobby but still, turned him down because of Gabu’s flimsy reason; Dry lips.
“Nakumbuka kuna time tulinyima Diamond collabo. Kuna time Diamond alitungoja kwa lobby for 4 hours. Alikuwa anataka tufanye collabo na yeye but tukamyima. Gabu alisema Diamond alikuwa ameparara lips. But anyway, sio kila mtu hupewa collabo. Actually, nakumbuka hio ngoma alikuwa ashaandika na akamiimbia chorus hapo kwa lobby and hio ngoma ilikuwa ‘Nitampata Wapi’. Actually, alisema anataka ikuwe P-Unit featuring Diamond.” Boneye told SPM Buzz.
Well, the trio turned down Diamond Platnumz’s request for a collabo but they played a major role in linking him up with world-acclaimed stars such as Rick Ross and his management.
Boneye stated that P-Unit did not give Diamond Platnumz a collabo but they made his journey easier by introducing him to people who matter and who would later help him become the phenomenal brand he is today.
Watching and listening to Boneye’s interview with SPM Buzz, the musician will most definitely prove to you he made the revelation from a proud side and not regret.
To Boneye, P-Unit denied Diamond Platnumz a chance to work with them on a collabo but they equally did a lot to ensure he meets the right people who would help grow his music career.
